Rethinking International Student Education
Launched in September 2018, RISE International School of Paris is a private, bilingual middle school (ages 11–15) that bridges the educational and emotional gap between elementary and high school while preparing students for an American, British, or French upper school.
At RISE, we believe that students are unique individuals who learn in different ways, must actively participate in the classroom exchange, and have the power to promote social change.
We encourage our students to be confident in their academic and social abilities and committed to a life filled with learning in order to become compassionate global citizens.
RISE, a progressive approach to middle school education:
- Individualized bilingual program
- Small multiage classes
- Strong emphasis on core subjects (English and French language arts, mathematics, science)
- Interdisciplinary classes and projects
- Differentiated Instruction
- Project and service-based learning
- Team and community building
- One-to-one advisory program
- Reflection and self-assessment
RISE is located on the west side of Paris and are conveniently situated minutes away from the train station.
In order to fully thrive in school, students must work in an environment where the approach to learning is tailored to their own learning styles and with teachers who fully understand each child’s natural strengths. Given the right learning tools and with regular encouraging support, every child can become his or her best self at school.
Students who know what they can do well often feel more eager to learn new skills. Giving every child the confidence to excel promotes learning, but it also prompts students to feel that they have a role to play in the classroom and in the greater community. Once students find their authentic voices, they will use them to make a difference in the world.
The middle school years mark the passage from childhood to adulthood. It is a time when a person’s social, emotional and cognitive growth is enormously active. We believe a school should be a place where students can become confident, well-educated global citizens who will feel able to face all challenges with courage and conviction.
RISE believes schools must acknowledge these changes in order to better meet the needs of adolescents and to prepare them for a bright future.
